“Shannon alone held my hand through every scary part of this pregnancy and was a vital support resource.” — S. B., 2015

“Shannon was an integral part of my VBAC team — and I did not have a VBAC! I planned for a VBAC, but instead labored for 7 hours and had a c-section for my breech boy. Shannon’s support, throughout my pregnancy and during 16 hours of labor, were invaluable, and it was key to have her on my team when I was in recovery for the c-section and couldn’t speak for myself. ”

“Shannon made my pregnancy and birth experience a total positive, deep and touching story. She thought me and my husband all details of child birth and being a family, and she was on my left side during my long labor on Thanksgiving Day! I can’t thank Shannon enough for being such a valuable support for me and my husband. We recommend her to everyone.”

“Shannon has attended my first vba2c. She has assisted by phone for a repeat vba2c, and she has assisted by phone my sister-in-law birth as a proxy through me. I really can’t say enough good things about her during the birthing process. She knows her business well and not only helps you as part of her job, but loves it! She puts her heart into it, and cares deeply. I truly feel like I wouldn’t have been able to vba2c without her help. I had zero medical support. I’ve seen other midwives and have spoken to other doulas. I have found nobody with the same love and passion for helping people as Shannon! Thank you, Shannon, for answering all my texts and questions even in the middle of the night!”

“It’s so wonderful to have someone supportive and understanding of birth there to help and listen! Both Jamie and I were grateful for such a calming presence…especially since little miss was in a hurry to get here!

“I worked with Shannon before she became a midwife. She was my doula for my homebirth after 3 C-Sections. Hiring her was the best thing my husband and I did. Not only is her knowledge unsurpassed, she goes on evidence-based birth options. She was extremely supportive and gave me straight facts — not fear mongering. I am a Naturopathic Doctor as well as a Clinical Herbalist. I would hire her if I have any more children without thinking twice!”

“I had the absolute pleasure of witnessing Shannon’s midwife skills as another birth professional in attendance. Her calm, quiet, and unobtrusive nature was like none I’ve seen. Her ability to feel into the birthing mom and her needs made for quiet moments of awareness. It was a pleasure to experience her expertise and lack of alarm to a natural process as the birthing mom wanted. It would be my pleasure to attend future births. She has also coached me as a doula with amazing care for my clients.”

“Shannon is an amazing provider! She truly cares about women and their desired outcomes. Shannon was the midwife who provided care throughout my third pregnancy and the delivery last year. I can honestly say, it was the best prenatal care I have received. Shannon was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and skilled. She helped to put me at ease in the midst of a very stressful time (pregnancy in the midst of a pandemic!). I found myself looking forward to my appointments with her. I felt respected, well-informed, and well cared for throughout my pregnancy. Her presence at my son’s birth was supportive and grounding. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Shannon and her services. If we are crazy enough to have a fourth child, I would hire Shannon immediately!”

“There is something truly special about being under the care of Shannon and anyone she works with. My husband and I took our birth education course from Shannon 4 years ago, and she attended the birth of my first son as the assistant midwife to our primary provider. Unfortunately, after a 27 hour labor, we had a non-emergent hospital transfer. So 4 years later when we were welcoming our 3rd child and now no longer were having to deal with COVID restrictions, I decided to do a birth center birth. The local birth center did not align with our values, and my husband said, ‘We should call Shannon and do a homebirth again.’ So I called Shannon in tears about my experience with the birth center, and she graciously and lovingly took us on.

Shannon will educate you on anything you have questions on with an evidence based lens, and will help you move through processes to make decisions for you and your family. Shannon is extremely responsive—always quick to respond to a text or call, and my husband and I consistently felt that she cared deeply for us and our hopes for a homebirth of our daughter. Shannon helped me problem solve any pregnancy discomforts I had — everything from specific effective stretches, to adjusting my water and magnesium intake, to helping me with my mental endurance after I went 7 days past my ‘due date.’ Shannon is a provider that supports the whole person, not just the pregnancy symptoms.

I ended up having an absolutely beautiful, healing birth as the sun was setting. Shannon and the 2nd midwife she had attend (who was also wonderful) were there every contraction, helping me progress and when I moved through transition, Shannon saw that I needed to move to a squat position to help baby turn. Sure enough, she was right.

Through postpartum I have felt extremely supported, and Shannon has been attentive to my postpartum history. I feel like Shannon really cares about me, my well being, and the well being of my daughter — but also, my two other children and husband.

This is a lengthy review, but frankly inviting a person into your home to care for you and your baby, and support you through the greatest day of your life — you need to love and trust your provider. After 3 kids, I know for a fact that if we have a 4th, we will be calling Shannon again. She is an integral part of our birth story and we are so grateful for her care.”

“Shannon is a phenomenal midwife! She is highly knowledgeable and experienced and has an answer for everything! I had her as my midwife for my second pregnancy/water birth. Because I had a difficult time pushing in my first labor (5 hours!), I wanted to make sure that my second labor went differently.

After my first visit with Shannon, she gained my full trust and confidence, and I knew that she would help me have the birth I wanted. Every visit with Shannon was very thorough—all my questions were answered and more. You can tell that she’s done a lot of research. She really takes her time with you, as I never felt rushed and she talks to you like a close friend. Her two assistants were fantastic as well! Very friendly and respectful. I got to know both of them before my due date, so I was comfortable having them at my birth.

During my labor, Shannon guided me whenever I needed her assistance. I didn’t know what to do when contractions got really intense, but I was feeling pressure and she affirmed that I could start pushing if it felt better than not pushing. That gave me encouragement to keep going, until I realized the strong urge to push was not kicking in, plus my pushing efforts were not very effective. Shannon saw that I was starting to feel discouraged, as this was exactly what happened in my first labor. She then directed me to get into a specific squatting position while holding onto my partner. She reminded me to bend my elbows to engage my core, and it surprised me how well that worked! I could noticeably feel baby come down with each push—it was amazing! Baby was out in 15 minutes! I also didn’t tear! I think keeping my knees fairly close together in the squatting position helped. Shannon also instructed me to blow when I felt burning. She quickly undid a nuchal cord without me noticing and instructed me how to pat baby’s back when he had swallowed some water. She and her assistants were very helpful after the birth, cleaning up, starting laundry, etc. They stayed for a few hours, making sure we were all settled before they left.

I’ve had an amazing journey with Shannon and am sad to see it end. I am writing this review just before my 6 week (last) postpartum appointment. She has been such a significant part of my life. It makes me (almost) want to have a 3rd kid just so I can have Shannon regularly in my life again. I told my sister that she has to see Shannon when she starts having kids. I have recommended her to all my friends as well.”

“This has been a long time coming but I just want to brag on Shannon for a bit. Shannon is not only a friend but an excellent doula/midwife. My daughter gave birth to her first daughter and my first grandbaby last year under Shannon’s guidance from a distance. My daughter was nearing 42 weeks and we had walked and walked as well as all the other labor inducing actions we could do. As my daughters doula, I told my son in love some of the labor inducing things he ‘needed’ to do and to get busy, yet all of this still did not get little Selah to make her debut however. Trying to discern what more we could do without needing to check into a hospital and going the route of induction, something none of us wanted to happen, Shannon would ever so calmly reduce our concerns and fears. All the knowledge and education someone can have doesn’t always ease the tension and stress when your faced with the very thing you really didn’t want to face. Shannon came along side me and answered question after question, spoke truth about reaching the 42 week guess date and helped us all to keep a sound mind while waiting. Shannon’s calm demeanor matches my own but like I said, when your in the midst of your experience sometimes all the soundness of mind, education, and knowledge somehow seems to go out the window especially when its your daughter giving birth. I want to say thank you to you Shannon for being there when we needed you most and offering your expertise. Yes, expertise, you’re a wealth of knowledge when it comes to birth. If your considering having Shannon a part of your birth experience, I highly recommend her. You will love your birth story if you do.
Love you Shannon!”
